Scrum Values Can Guide Us Through This Time

By Sherman Gomberg

I want to encourage you to stay positive and consider using the Scrum Values to help guide you in this challenging time of COVID-19.

  1. 1. Focus

Focus on being positive. Our workplace and home life have drastically changed and will continue to change. Keep your focus positive, do what you can, and let go of things you cannot control. 1.

  • 2. Openness

Be open with your situation and reach out. Now’s the time to be open so pick up your phone to ask for help or ask if you can be of help to someone else. Reach out to your coworkers, family or friends

  • 3. Respect

Respect everyone. Each of us reacts to change differently. I encourage you to respect those around you, even though they may cope differently than you. And it’s important to respect yourself and understand your boundaries as things continue to evolve.

  • 4. Commitment

Stay committed to relationships and projects. Now is the time to dig in and show your commitment in this new workplace. In addition to your family, commit to your work relationships and your projects. Diving into work is not only a good distraction, but helps to keep your career healthy and safe, too.

  • 5. Extreme Courage

Be courageous! Keep going and stay strong. This time will pass. Know that you will come through this stronger than before. You have the support of friends, family and coworkers.  We’re here for you, too.

Stay strong and safe,
